Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, ā€œIndeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews. You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the kingā€™s name, and seal it with the kingā€™s signet ring; for whatever is written in the kingā€™s name and sealed with the kingā€™s signet ring no one can revokeā€ (Esther 8:7-8).

At this point in her life, Esther already had unquestionable favor with her husband the king. Her request irritated Xerxes, the king and her husband. She was his wife yet she acted like a foreign slave girl. She begged when she should have been ruling. She had the authority to write a new decree to set people free, to break Hamanā€™s power. She saw what was about to happen to her people and stepped in to reverse it.

We have favor with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Weā€™ve been given authority to break the power of the devil and to trample on his head. What we want to see happen in our family needs to be reflected in our prayers and declared and written into existence. The things that God wants to do will happen when we act on the authority weā€™ve been given from the king of kings here and now.
