Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.

But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done. (Acts 8:4-13)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

The whole key to Philip and his ability to break the curse of witchcraft, bondage, evil and sin is found in what he believed. It will be the key for us as well. The gospel of Jesus Christ was the foundation of Philip’s life. He believe Jesus came, lived, died, rose again, and is seated in heaven with the Father. He believed that Jesus had sent His Holy Spirit to be with us and in us, and works in us now to do the same things Jesus did on the earth when He was here. Philip showed the people that Jesus is alive today.

Do you believe that Jesus is working today? Do you believe the same power that rested in and on Christ rests in and on us? Jesus wants our culture liberated, but it takes you and I to do this. We can break the curses that have controlled people for so long—we just have to believe it can be done. We can see our family, our friends, our neighborhoods, our cities, our states, our countries set free from curses of witchcraft and sin, and brought into the light of Jesus’ kingdom. It will be done by people that love Jesus, are not ashamed of Him, who live different from others, who act in the power of the Holy Spirit, and who walk in love, joy, peace, and the other fruit of the Spirit. We can be curse breakers. It all begins with what we believe.
