For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,

for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet,

till her vindication shines out like the dawn,

her salvation like a blazing torch.

The nations will see your vindication,

and all kings your glory;

you will be called by a new name

that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.

You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,

a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

No longer will they call you Deserted,

or name your land Desolate.

But you will be called Hephzibah,

and your land Beulah; for the Lord will take delight in you,

and your land will be married (Isaiah 62:1-4, NIV).

Names are important to our identities, and God wants us to know the names He’s given us. Our true names matter—it keeps us from answering to the lies of Satan, responding to the names he is calling us.

In God’s presence, we find a new name. In His presence, He shows us who we really are by calling forth our new characteristics and unveiling our destinies which are our prophetic calling in the name He gives us. The Bible is a mirror that shows us who we really are. We are in a constant combat to reclaim the Kingdom identity He has long had for us. We  can’t let the devil’s deceptions mold us into someone we are not meant to be. We have a new name. God reserves the right to give us a proper name. Our name is son and daughter of God.

Reflect.

Does the image you see of yourself match what God’s word says about you? If not, why not?

Prayer.

Spend time in prayer, going over Isaiah 62:1-4, praying it aloud a few times, asking the Holy Spirit to show you any part you need to grasp today. Declare you new identity in Him.
