For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end… (Isaiah 9:6-7).
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7).
Jesus’ title is, Prince of Peace. When we follow Jesus, we follow peace, and by following Him, we are given a new spirit. This new spirit is full of power, love, and a sound mind— a mind of peace. We don’t have to live in fear or timidity. We have a lot of blessings and one of them is the spirit of a sound mind. It allows us to keep and maintain our freedom as God delivers us from fear and anxiety and depression.
Reflect.
Re-read the names of Jesus listed in Isaiah 9:6-7. Have you ever imagined or seen Him in the light of any of these names before? What do they make you think and feel now?
Prayer.
Take some time and pray first, for a deeper revelation of Jesus as Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Pause and invite His presence as you dwell on these names. Then pray for the Holy Spirit to help you grasp a deeper level of the power of 2 Tim. 1:7.
