Freedom Won

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:10-14).

Jesus came that we “may have life, and…have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). He created the path to this abundant life by breaking the curse off of us. His death redeemed us from the curse of sin and death. He won back our freedom from the grips of Satan by shedding His blood on the cross. We can’t break the curse ourselves. It is only as we walk in the grace and mercy of Jesus that we can live free and have authority to remove the curse Jesus broke on the cross.

Reflect.
Are there areas of your life that are full of God’s abundance? Are there any areas where there is lack? How can living in God’s grace help you break the curse of lack off your life?

Prayer.
Pray for God to help you grasp Galatians 3:10-14 in a deeper way this year. Pray for God to show you what it means to live in faith, free of the curse, and in the freedom of the grace of Christ.
