Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him, “Take your father’s young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down.” So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the Lord had said to him. But because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night (Judges 6:25-27).
God told Gideon to tear down the family idols and rededicate the family to God. Before he could go forward, he had to go back and liberate his family from hell. He was liberated by God’s angel; now he had to set his family free so he could set a nation free. One of the most powerful instruments the devil uses against families are generational spirits with entrenched authority in the lives of those that have allowed them to live and thrive.
Locked inside our spirit is the call and the path of God for our lives. We have to break out of the lies that bind us. This is the season to break out of family curses. This is the time for us to move out of the negative family issues and into the positive blessing of God’s family. God wants friends not slaves. He welcomes us into His family as sons and daughters so we can work with Him to see His kingdom come into the earth. We are kingdom people, with access to great power to break the devil’s curses off our families.
