Why did God keep to the temple? Before Christ he could not live in communion with unregenerate man. So he kept to the temple. It was his house. His presence was confined to the arc of the covenant. It was his place of meeting with his loved children. He kept it so we could connect with him.
But that has changed. We can now have a personal relationship with him outside of a specific place or building or location. We can get alone with him in our car, on a walk in the woods, at the beach, sitting with friends at a Starbucks. We can enter his presence at any time. We just have to go and he will be waiting for us.
