Our minds are God’s gifts to us. They are not to be the devil’s playground. We can control what goes on in our minds because “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16b). We don’t have to be conformed to this world. We can recapture our mind which leads to recovering and healing our will because “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Tim. 1:7). The Greek word for “sound mind” is “sophreno,” which means “a safe mind.” It carries the connotation of mind that is guarded and protected. The walls have been rebuilt. The devil is not able to invade at any moment and ruin a life with just one thought. But we have a spirit of a sound or protected mind that can and will keep those thoughts from taking root and destroying us.

God loves it when we rise and reclaim our will, our ability to say “no” to the devil. He loves it when we submit our hearts to Him, allow Him to heal us, and set us free. He loves it when we put the word of God into our minds and begin the process of rebuilding our will. When we get healthy, and we get our resistance back, we can send the devil fleeing, experience more victories in life, and keep the healing and restoration God has brought into our lives.
