David had just recently been anointed and received as King over all of Israel. His lifelong enemies and the enemies of Israel, the Philistines, heard about it and were not very happy. When God anoints you, He also empowers you. His anointing brings an assignment against the works of Satan.

All of his life, David had an assignment and an anointing to defeat the Philistines. When God anoints your life for a specific Kingdom purpose, you never have to go looking for trouble (demons, opposition, etc.). It will come looking for you! Satan doesn’t want you to become strong in your calling, gifting, and anointing, and he will try to threaten you out of your assigned place.

Even though David knew he had the power to destroy the Philistines, he would not act without the WORD OF THE LORD TO GO.

Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”

The Lord said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”

1 Chronicles 14:8-10NKJV

The key to victory is not in the size or strength of God’s people. It is in hearing and acting on His today word!

Not every fight is your fight. Not every battle is your battle. Not every need you see is your assignment to meet. It is not up to us to choose who, when, and where we are to pour the resources of our life. 1 Chronicles 14: 11 gives us an example of this in the rest of David’s story”

So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

The place of breakthrough in your life is when you receive God’s today word. He gives us the key to breakthrough by revealing His word to us.
