Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).
Jesus answered them, âDo you now believe? Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the worldâ (John 16:31-33).
Jesusâ peace canât be defeated. Jesus was kept under watchful eyes for three years by those that hated him, but He was covered in peace and was able to minister life anyway. Peace covered Him, so much so, that He slept even in a hurricane. Even when difficult situations were about to overwhelm Him, He pressed on. This peace ours now. We can conquer our fears through Jesusâ peace. Peace is the presence of God in our storms, not the absence of storms.
Peace is a choice, not a fleeting emotion. We can live in peace in the middle of our storms. We can defeat our storms with Jesusâ peace as a weapon. Wherever we go, we can have peace and we donât have to absorb the destructive feelings of others. We make the decision to walk in peace because we wonât live life without Jesusâ peace ruling our world.
