The service was about to end. As I quietly prayed, asking the Lord if there was anything else to be done before I sent the people home, I suddenly knew I was to pray for a couple in the service who were elders of the church.
I called them forward, and I could feel the fire of God coming upon me. I began to prophesy to them about a loved one, a relative of theirs, being in grave danger, and that God was supernaturally delivering that person right at that moment.
I touched them both and felt the power of God flowing into them. Not knowing what exactly had taken place, I just trusted the Lord that His will was released.
Two days later this couple called me and told me a most fantastic story. It seems that a young niece of theirs was involved in a dangerous drug transaction in Southern California. The men had tied her up and were going to kill her. At precisely 12:30 on Sunday, she suddenly had a chance to escape and did so.
She came to Arizona to hide and told her story to the couple I had prayed for. At the exact moment God was speaking about her in Arizona, God was delivering her from death in California. She heard the tape of God’s Spirit speaking about her, and she wept.
JUST ONE WORD saved her life and brought about a great deliverance.
Jesus was having a busy ministry day when a Roman centurion approached Him and asked for help. Jesus offered to come to his house and pray for his sick servant, but the soldier startled Jesus with an astonishing understanding of spiritual authority.
“Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!
Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour. (Matthew 8:6-10, 13)
The centurion understood how authority flows. A command is given, passed down, and carried out. He understood that to have power, you must first be under authority. The more authority you have over you, the more authority you can manifest to others. He understood that to lead, you must first follow.
This is how the Kingdom of God functions. To receive what he needed from Jesus, all he needed was for Jesus to speak it. He understood that the power and authority of the Kingdom of God were unleashed by the words He spoke.
The words of Jesus contained the life and glory of God that had the power to free mankind from the bondage and authority of Satan’s destruction. His word still has the power, and it still produces the same results. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
The power and life of God flow to mankind by his word. God created the world by the power of his word, and he can change your world by the force of his word. His today word releases his will and purpose, delivering mankind from the prison of suffering and bondage. The Word of God tells us that “He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.” (Psalm 107:20)
God’s answer to the distress and devastation His people were experiencing was to SEND HIS WORD TO THEM. His Word healed them. His Word delivered them. His Word will heal and deliver you! When you face the conflicts and storms of life, God is still with you. As you diligently seek him, you will find him. He will give you a word in season that will sustain and strengthen your life.
