The perfect Son

When Jesus showed up, he wasn’t an incomplete or immature revelation of God. Jesus was and is the revelation of God. He changed everything. Jesus brought a superior revelation of God in his teaching, his life and through the New Covenant. He is the highest revelation of God in mankind.

When the author of Hebrews uses “brightness of his glory”, he is saying something very powerful. The word brightness in the Greek means “to emit light or splendor; reflected brightness; a shining forth; a light coming from a luminous body.” Jesus is the glory of God seen. ““If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” (John 14:7) Jesus spoke what the Father told him to speak. He did what the Father told him to do. He was the perfect representation of the Father. God the Father’s heart, will and desire was perfectly manifested in Jesus Christ.

When the author says that he is the “express image”, he is saying that Jesus is “an exact duplication; an exact resemblance of something.” It means to carve 16

something out, to mark something, to frame it. It was the instrument used to engrave and also the mark made by engraving. It is the impression that represents the similitude of something else.
